SOUND DESIGN
Video Synchronization Project (2019)
Sound design for media was one of my final year modules while studying at the University of Northampton, and for the final project I took three videos and redesigned the sound for each one. I worked hard to collect a variety of recordings and make rich soundscapes, while making use of the editing process to enhance and alter each sound effect and make the clips exciting and realistic.

For this project, one of the main challenges was recording high quality foley and ambient sound using low budget equipment, and a large amount of my recordings were done using the microphone of a smart phone. However by editing and adding effects, I managed to dramatically transform these recordings and create good quality sound throughout each clip.
The Nesting Place - Locative Media Project (2018)
My first ever sound design project, 'The Nesting Place', was based on the horror web comic of the same name by Emily Carroll. The story follows a girl, Mabel, who goes to live with her brother and his fiance in an old mansion - however, the fiance turns out to be a horrific, creepy leech monster.
The audio was created to be uploaded to the mobile app 'Empedia', and was intended as an audio tour for an old Victorian mansion in Northamptonshire. Each audio file contains a different scene from the story, and each scene is linked to a specific location/room in real life. The idea was that the listener would be able to walk through the mansion and gardens and feel as if the story was taking place around them, creating an immersive experience.

The majority of the project was recorded using a Zoom H5 field recorder, including foley, ambiance and voice recordings. The audio was then edited using Ableton Live, making use of a variety of effects (e.g. reverb and binaural panning) to make each scene sound realistic and as if it is being played out in real life around the listener.
